And the back story presented to justify his actions did nothing to redeem his character for me. Once in London, Paul did his godfatherly duty and took Beth out for a chat and dinner. This was just pitiful. I enjoyed the angsty portions of the story, but the hero needed more grovel along with his declaration. One out of those three criteria still makes me pretty happy.
